The construction industry deserves better knowledge resources.

We built ConstructionsPedia because the best construction knowledge was locked behind paywalls, buried in academic journals, or written by people who had never set foot on a job site. That ends here.

Making expert construction knowledge accessible to everyone

ConstructionsPedia exists to close the knowledge gap in the construction industry. Whether you’re a site engineer in your first year or a senior project director with 30 years of experience, you deserve access to accurate, up-to-date, and practical information — without paying for it.

We cover the full spectrum of modern construction: BIM, AI, civil engineering, project management, sustainable building, cost estimation, safety, and more. Every article is written or reviewed by a licensed professional with real-world experience in that specific discipline.

“The best construction knowledge shouldn’t require a university subscription or a consultant’s invoice. It should be one search away — free, accurate, and written by people who actually build things.”

— Marcus Allen, PE · Founder, ConstructionsPedia

How we got here

From a frustrated engineer’s side project to one of the industry’s most-read construction knowledge hubs — in under two years.

The frustration that started it all

Marcus Allen, a licensed PE working on a major infrastructure project in Houston, spent hours trying to find a clear, accurate guide on BIM Level 3 requirements. Everything he found was either behind a paywall, outdated, or written by someone who had clearly never run a BIM project. He started writing the guide himself and posting it publicly.

ConstructionsPedia goes live

The site launched with 12 articles across BIM, civil engineering, and project management. Within the first month, it attracted 8,000 unique visitors — mostly from Google searches by engineers looking for exactly the kind of practical, no-fluff content Marcus had been writing. It was clear the industry needed this.

Building the expert team

Sarah Rodriguez joined as Managing Editor, bringing her 12 years of commercial construction PM experience to lead the editorial calendar. The team grew to include licensed engineers, a construction technology researcher, a certified safety professional, and a LEED AP sustainability specialist — each owning their area of the site.

500 articles and a growing community

ConstructionsPedia crossed 500 published articles and 10,000 newsletter subscribers. The site began publishing quarterly category reviews to ensure every guide stayed current with the latest industry standards, code updates, and technology developments. The community started sending in corrections and contributions.

The most-read free construction knowledge hub in the US

12,000+ construction professionals now rely on ConstructionsPedia weekly. The site covers 12 major disciplines, with AI in construction and civil engineering consistently the most-read categories. The editorial standard remains the same: if a licensed professional wouldn’t stake their reputation on it, it doesn’t get published.

Our editorial values

Every decision we make — what to publish, who writes it, how we review it — comes back to these principles.

Accuracy over speed

Every article is reviewed by a licensed professional before it goes live. We'd rather publish one correct guide a week than ten that send engineers in the wrong direction on a job site.

Free, always

No paywalls. No article limits. No registration required. The construction industry has too many gatekeepers already — ConstructionsPedia will never be one of them. All 500+ articles are permanently free.

Practical before academic

We write for the engineer who needs an answer by Monday morning — not for a peer review committee. Real problems, real workflows, real decisions. Theory gets explained only when it directly supports practice.

Continuously updated

Construction codes change. Software gets new versions. Best practices evolve. Every category is reviewed quarterly and every article is checked against the latest standards before it's left to age online.

Written by practitioners

No generalist writers. No content farms. Every article on ConstructionsPedia is written or reviewed by someone who holds the relevant license, certification, or has years of direct professional experience in that discipline.

Industry-wide perspective

Construction doesn't happen in silos. We cover the full project lifecycle — from design and engineering through construction management, safety, cost control, and technology — because real projects require all of it.

Our editorial process

Every article that goes live on ConstructionsPedia has passed through a four-step process designed to ensure accuracy, relevance, and practical value.

Topic Selection

Topics are chosen based on search demand, industry relevance, and gaps in existing free resources — not keyword volume alone.

Expert Drafting

A licensed professional or certified specialist in the relevant discipline writes the first draft from direct working experience.

Technical Review

A second qualified expert reviews the draft for technical accuracy, current standards compliance, and any missing context.

Publish & Maintain

Published articles are flagged for quarterly review. Any outdated content is updated or retracted — never left online to mislead.
